Wamego's Independence Day Celebration

Hello OZ-Lovers!

Thank you so much for your dedication to all things OZ, but especially our museum. We truly enjoy your visits and conversing with you, whether that be in-person or online! We've decided to add new aspects to our blog. Instead of OZ history each Friday, we will be discussing news and events going on in the OZ world, OZ crafts and recipes, trivia and current events happening in our Museum's hometown, Wamego, KS.

Don't let the size of Wamego fool you. Many unique attractions & festivities are nestled into this small, but dedicated, community -- including the OZ Museum, OZ Winery, Toto's Tacos, the historic Columbian Theatre, and many more.

This weekend, Wamego will be hosting the #1 rated firework show in Kansas. Prior to the firework show, there are many exciting activities for all ages!

City Carnival - July 1-3rd: 6 to 10 p.m. July 1-3rd. July 4th will run 1-10 p.m.
Wamego Fire Department Auxiliary Dunk Tank: July 1st-3rd, 6-10pm next to Wamego City Park carnival. Come dunk you favorite coach, city official, or co-worker. Proceeds to benefit Wamego Fire Department and Auxiliary.

July 4th Events

41st Annual Walter P. Chrysler Car Show: 9am-3:30pm, Wamego City Park. Contact: Verne Claussen (785) 456-4179 for registration information
Hot Wheels Races: July 4th, 1:30pm, Wamego City Park – one block east of Downtown. Hot Wheels available on site to purchase. All ages welcomed.
30th Annual Kaw Valley Antique Engine, Truck and Tractor Club Show: 9am-3:30pm, Wamego Ball Diamonds East of Wamego City Park.
Wamego Historical Society Ice Cream & Cake Social: 10am-5pm, Wamego Historical Museum in City Park. Icecream churned by antique, John Deere, water cooled engine.
First United Methodist Church Pork Sandwich & Homemade Pie Dinner: 11am-8pm, 6th & Lincoln. Meal includes chips, beans, drink, sandwich and pie, $8.00/meal.
Patriotic Vocal Concert: 4:00pm First United Methodist Church
Wamego Community Band Concert: 1:30pm, Columbian Theatre
144th Annual Wamego Independence Day Parade: 6:00pm, Downtown Lincoln Ave from 8th to 4th streets.
1st Infantry Division Band Concert: 8:00pm, Wamego Rec Complex. Come for the pre-fireworks show.
Fireworks: 10:00pm, Wamego Rec Complex. #1 Ranked Fireworks Display in Kansas!
